Posted by admin in Furniture Making, Wood Furniture Repairs, Woodworking Associations at 9:56 pm | Permanent Link

british_antique_furniture_restorers_thumbnailThe British Antique Furniture Restorers’ Association is the foremost national organization of craftsmen engaged in furniture conservation and restoration and was founded in 1979 to safeguard interests of owners and buyers of antique furniture and the antique trade.

It seeks to act as a bridge between qualified conservator-restorers’ and those whose love of antique furniture requires the highest standards of conservation and restoration.

You can find a restorer, browse their knowledge base or FAQ, read published articles, and many more things.

You can become a member if you have at least five years as a conservation-restoration professional (the average member today has 23 years experience) and pass exacting assessment on their skills, knowledge and business credentials.

Dan’s Shop

Posted by admin in Furniture Making, Woodworking Hand Tools, Woodworking Publications at 6:10 pm | Permanent Link

dans_shop_thumbDan’s interest in woodworking is primarily in human-powered woodworking.  Read about his shaker cupboard project.  He’s also got a cool shop gallery of projects.  However, most impressive is his woodworking library of over 175 books.  Does he have them all in his library?  Has he read them all!  Why not ask Dan?

Windsor Chair Resources

Posted by admin in Furniture Making at 10:18 am | Permanent Link

A great resource for making traditionally handcrafted Windsor Chairs.  As GCS puts it, “I’ve read this website from start to finish, it should be a book! Someone has spent a great deal of time for this to be so organized and complete. I use the internet all the time and it is rare to find so much detail in one spot. Thanks to you, whoever you are!” You can view chairmaking slideshows as well as find a chairmaker, find an instructor, or browse through chairmaking tips.
